Put down your cell phone and refrain from eating and drinking while driving. Adjust the radio, climate control, and navigation systems before you begin your trip to avoid distractions while you’re on the road.
5. Don’t drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs
Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs puts you and other drivers on the road at risk.
6. Keep your car in good condition
Make sure your car is in good condition by performing regular maintenance and servicing. Also, check your tires regularly and make sure they are properly inflated.
7. Be prepared for inclement weather
Make sure your car is equipped with the proper safety features, such as windshield wipers, functioning headlights and brakes, and snow tires if necessary. Additionally, drive more slowly and cautiously in inclement weather.
8. Familiarise yourself with emergency procedures
Learn how to use your vehicle’s safety features, such as airbags and anti-lock brakes. Also, know where the nearest emergency service station is located should you have a breakdown.
